Help & example — Edit Metal
Update an existing base-metal master record. Changes affect future master-data selection, so the metal identity should remain stable after it is used operationally.
- Metal Code
- Unique ERP code. Example: GOLD. Avoid changing established codes unnecessarily.
- Metal Name
- Base metal name. Example: Gold.
- Symbol
- Chemical symbol. Example: Au.
- Default Unit
- Primary weight unit. Jewellery metals normally use g.
- Color / Finish
- Optional descriptive colour such as Yellow.
- Description
- Business description for the base metal.
- Display Order
- Controls ordering in Metal Master and future dropdowns.
- Status
- Inactive keeps the record but prevents normal future selection.
Example update: GOLD | Gold | Au | g | Yellow | Active. Do not convert this record into 22K Gold or 18K Gold; those values belong in Purity Master.
